For our production of Wipeout, Studio Theatre is partnering with two DC-based organizations who advocate for richer connections among older LGBTQ+ adults and for access to clean oceans.

DC LGBTQ+ Community Center

The DC LGBTQ+ Community Center educates, empowers, uplifts, celebrates, and connects the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities. Dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space, The DC Community Center focuses on four core areas: health and wellness, arts and culture, social and peer support, and advocacy and community building.

Center Aging is the DC Center’s program for LGBTQ+ older adults, which aims to provide socialization opportunities and foster community wellness among seniors.

Surfrider DC

Surfrider DC is the DC chapter of The Surfrider Foundation, which dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches for all people.  Their programs include programs to protect marine ecosystems, including beach cleanups and best practices for ocean-friendly restaurants and gardens. Surfrider DC also leads broader advocacy campaigns to protect the mid-Atlantic’s water, including work in plastic reduction, ocean protection, beach access, clean water, and a coasts and climate campaign that works to protect shorelines on every coast.
