Information for Patrons and Visitors with Mobility Disabilities

Accessible Entrances

All entrances to the building, theaters, and concession bars are accessible. Elevators operate between all four floors.

Accessible Seating

All theaters have wheelchair- and scooter-accessible locations where patrons can remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to seats. Patrons who cannot or do not wish to transfer from their wheelchairs to a theater seat should request wheelchair-accessible locations when ordering tickets.

Wheelchair accessible seating may be purchased by phone, in person, and online. For personal assistance selecting accessible seats or for more information about accessibility for a person with a disability, please contact the Box Office at 202.332.3300.

Parking

The District of Columbia Department of Transportation has provided a handicapped-accessible parking meter on the northeast corner of 14th and P streets NW. Please note that this meter is ADA-compliant, but not reserved for use only by persons with disabilities.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. Infrared assistive listening systems are installed in all theaters and headsets may be used at any seat. Headsets with induction neckloops are available for patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a “T” switch. Ask your audiologist whether your hearing aid or cochlear implant has a “T” switch (telecoil) and how to use it with an assistive listening headset.

Headsets are distributed free-of-charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the concession bar.

Sign Language Interpretation

Sign language interpretation is scheduled for select Studio Theatre events throughout the year. Search our calendar for a complete list of sign-interpreted performances, or check our Accessibility page.

Tickets in the sign-interpreted section can be purchased online or by contacting the Box Office at 202.332.3300. Due to the intimate size of Studio’s theatres, we have a limited number of accessible seats; these seats will be indicated in a message on the ticket menu when a sign-interpreted performance is selected. To ensure your seat is in the sign-interpreted section for your performance, please select the specified seats using the "select your own seat" tool, notify the box office at the time of your ticket purchase, or make a note in the “Order Comments” section when ordering online.

To receive free notices about upcoming sign-interpreted events, join our “Access Studio” email list.
