Tell us about your organization.

N Street Village is a community of empowerment and recovery for homeless and low-income women in Washington, D.C. With comprehensive services addressing both emergency and long-term needs, we help women achieve stability and make meaningful gains in their housing, income, employment, mental health, physical health, and addiction recovery. NStreet Village provides co-located supportive services and housing for homeless and low-income women. Because many of the women we serve face multiple challenges -- homelessness, poverty, mental illness, addiction, and chronic health problems -- we take a holistic approach to helping each woman achieve her highest level of self-sufficiency. We also recognize the importance of community in the healing and recovery process, and we promote peer mentorship and peer leadership programs that help women feel connected and empowered.

What drew you to a partnership with Studio?

As our neighbor, we share the commitment to making all aspects of our community accessible and inclusive to everyone. Through our partnership, we have been able to bring our clients and residents to performances that inspire creativity and introspection, which help to further our mission. We have been involved with Studio Theatre for more than 10 years.

What role do you perceive Studio to play in the Logan Circle neighborhood?

Studio is a critical player in the Logan Circle neighborhood – as our artistic pillar, Studio Theatre inspires the creative arts that challenge and explore issues related to our everyday lives. As more people come to the Logan Circle area to take up residence or spend a night out, Studio Theatre plays an important part in how we articulate our contemporary questions and preserve our unique history.

What would you say to another organization who is considering partnering with Studio?

Studio has been a terrific partner to us, both in providing show tickets that our residents might not otherwise be able to afford, and also providing venue spaces in which we can host fundraising events and meetings to further our organizational support network. Studio has been a thoughtful and engaging partner that I would gladly recommend to anyone.
