Studio Theatre update on COVID-19 as of April 3, 2020

To our patrons and community,

Based on projections about COVID-19, with social distancing guidelines extending and stay-at-home orders issued, Studio Theatre is canceling the remainder of our 2019-2020 season. Impacted performances include Pass Over, Fun Home, and Aspen Ideas.

This is disappointing for all of us, but we believe it is the best decision to protect the health and safety of our audiences, artists, staff, and volunteers.

We are planning to launch the 2020-2021 season as scheduled in September. More information will be announced publicly soon.

OPTIONS FOR TICKETHOLDERS

To patrons who purchased tickets to Pass Over, Aspen Ideas, or Fun Home: their value has been transferred to your account as a credit. There are a number of options available to you when considering what to do with your tickets:

  • Donate your tickets back to Studio. Donating the value of your tickets helps us support the people behind the work you love and minimize the fallout from this crisis.
  • Subscribe. Use the credit on your account toward the purchase of a 2020-2021 season subscription.
  • Future performance or subscriptions. Apply your credit toward a future Studio purchase.*
  • Spread the love. Keep your credit to share the Studio experience and bring friends to future performances.
  • Gift certificate. Apply the value toward a gift certificate.
  • Refund. We will issue a full refund.

If you are a subscriber or patron with tickets to Pass Over, complete this form to let us know what you would like to do with your tickets.

Please respond by June 30, 2020. After that point, we will assume that you want the tickets to remain a credit on your account.

DONATE TO STUDIO’S COVID-19 RELIEF FUND

Cancelling performances—let alone closing its facilities entirely—places tremendous financial strain on any theatre. Studio Theatre's Board of Directors has generously pledged $245,000 collectively to establish a COVID Relief Fund. Donate now to join them in helping us brace against this crisis, emerge strong, and vigorously resume our work on stage.

ADDITIONAL REMINDERS ABOUT OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

In addition to these updates, we want to remind you of some prior information related to our response to COVID-19:

Virtual Box Office: Our Box Office is working remotely. Phones are open Tuesday – Friday from Noon – 4 p.m. The Box Office can be reached at 202.332.3300 or boxoffice@studiotheatre.org. Bear with us as we process a higher than normal call volume.

Closed to the public: Our building will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future, until DC government deems it safe to reopen.

Community events: The Pass Over Community Tour has been postponed until further notice. All community events at Studio have been suspended.

Pass subscribers: If you are a Pass holder, online Pass redemption is not possible at this time. Contact the Box Office with questions or assistance redeeming Passes.

Work from home. We are implementing a “work from home” policy for all non-critical staff.

FAQs for COVID-19 Cancellations


What is Studio offering to patrons who have tickets to canceled performances?

Studio is offering many options for our patrons:

  • ​Convert the value of your ticket into a tax-deductible donation to Studio. A receipt will be issued. Your donation will help Studio weather this crisis and continue to pay staff, artists, and crew during this uncertain time.
  • The value of your tickets can be left on your account as a credit for future use.
  • Exchange your tickets for seats to another production in Studio’s current season.
  • Apply the value of your tickets to a gift certificate.
  • Receive a refund.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Yes, but please bear with us. We’re processing a high volume of changes to ticket orders and are working through them as quickly as we can. Receipts will be issued in the coming weeks.

Can my credit be used for future seasons at Studio?

Yes, the balance on your account will be good for future seasons.

Can my credit be used towards my subscription?

If you have not paid, or are in the process of a payment plan, you can use your credit towards your subscription.

Can I use my credit online?

At this time, you may only use your credit by contacting the Box Office by email at boxoffice@studiotheatre.org or by calling 202.332.3300.

Can I exchange for another production in the 2019-2020 season?

Yes, you can exchange your cancelled Pass Over tickets for a later production in our 2019-2020 season. Click here to see what’s coming up.

Can I get refund?

Yes, we are offering full refunds back to the cards used for the initial purchase. Refunds generally take 7-10 business days to show up on your bank statement.

How can I contact the Box Office while Studio’s building is closed?

Can I still mail in my subscription form?
