Spotlight on auditions

Online registration for the 2015 Summer Young Actors Intensive is open and auditions are June 15, 2015!  Auditions!!?  No need to panic, we chatted with two of our students, a new student and an old student, about the summer auditioning experience, and this is what they told us:

So, were the auditions terrifying and intimidating?

Sammy: The first time, I was very nervous—I had never really auditioned for anything so I did not know what was going to happen.  But, it wasn’t scary at all. The second summer, I was like, oh, I know what this is like.

Did you have to prepare a monologue or anything like that?

Eva: No!  We were told when we registered that there was nothing to prepare.  So, then I really didn’t know what it would be like.

What happened at the audition?

Eva: We filled out an audition form and we had our picture taken.

Sammy: Then, we were taken into a room with a small group of other kids and the teachers were there and we did some games and improvisations.  It was really similar both times I did the auditions, so I felt really good about it last summer.

Was it fun?

Eva: Pretty fun…If I hadn’t been nervous, I probably would have really thought it was fun.

Sammy: I thought it was fun.  I liked the improvisations.

Did you like the summer Young Actors program?

Sammy: It was hard—a lot of work, but it was worth it.  I felt like I learned a lot—I’m much more confident than I was.  I feel like I know something about acting now.

Eva: I made a lot of really good friends in the program—I hope I will see them again this summer.

Are you planning on coming back?

Eva: Yes!!!

Sammy: Definitely!
