The Conservatory offers classes for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. During the fall and spring semesters, classes meet once per week. During the summer semester, adult classes meet twice a week and Young Actors classes meet five days a week. Please click here for the schedule.
Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory has five state-of-the-art classrooms on the third floor of the Studio Theatre building at 1501 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005.
Registration is open year round, and you may register at any time. Registration is on a first-come basis and most classes are filled prior to the first class. If a class is full, you may request to be placed on a wait list and may be able to join the class if a space is available prior to the second class.
You may register online for any of the Young Actors Ensemble (ages 13-17) programs. For adult classes, please call the Conservatory at 202.232.0714 to ensure the best class for you.
Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory admits students of all levels of experience.
Please see A Program For You, or contact the Conservatory at 202.232.0714 to determine which class is appropriate for you.
The Young Actors Program admits students ages 13-17. The adult program admits students over 17 years old.
In the Young Actors Program there is a placement audition that determines which ensemble is best suited for your young actor. The first step is to register, and your young actor will receive an appointment to audition for class placement. Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory admits students with or without previous experience, and there is nothing to prepare in advance for the audition.
Classrooms and hallways are reserved for students’ use. Family members and/or friends are invited to wait in the atrium/student lounge.

In addition to our regular classes, we do offer weekend workshops. For more information on upcoming workshops, click here.
Our curriculum is process-oriented and we give our students the opportunity to freely explore and discover without the influence of outside auditors. You have an excellent opportunity to see the work of our students at each semester’s Final Scenes. All acting classes, Auditioning, Music Theatre, and Directing classes have Final Scenes – the last class of the semester. If you would like to attend Final Scenes, please view the current semester's schedule by clicking here.
Workshops and classes range from $150 - $550. Please click here for information regarding pricing.
Through the Youth On-Stage program, we reserve slots in all Young Actors Ensemble classes for scholarships to students who have an interest in the performing arts but lack the financial resources. There is also a work study program for adults. For more information, click here.
In the event that a student chooses to withdraw from a class, the $100 registration fee per class and/or workshop ($200 registration fee for Young Actors Summer Intensive) cannot be refunded. The balance of tuition paid will be refunded if the student requests a refund in writing prior to or within three business days following the first class. For additional information on the refund policy, click here.
We inform students of all open auditions at Studio Theatre and keep a bulletin board of opportunities at Studio Theatre and elsewhere.
