Living in DC

Washington, DC is a fast-paced cosmopolitan city with a rich theatre community that complements DC’s other passion—politics. As the capital of the United States, the world’s eye is always on this city and history is always in the making, in the form of scandals or demonstrations, public policy or political maneuvering.  It’s an exciting place to begin a professional career—large enough to have access to several world-class theatres, and small enough to build a community within and beyond The Studio Theatre.

The Studio Theatre is the third largest producing theatre in DC, which is home to over 200 theatre companies, ranging from an active storefront fringe scene to the flagship theatres and theatre complexes. Apprentices and Interns frequently receive complimentary and discounted tickets to local dress rehearsals and performances, along with a chance to meet and socialize with young professionals at other theatres. The District is also home to many notable cultural institutions, including the Capitol Building and the Smithsonian museums, most of which are free and open to the public.
