What We Provide

  • Single or double occupancy housing in Dupont Circle, walking distance to The Studio Theatre and in the heart of a dynamic neighborhood. Housing is provided for most Apprentice positions; out-of-town candidates will receive priority.
  • Bi-weekly stipend.
  • Half-price tuition for classes and workshops at The Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory.
  • Tickets to Studio Theatre productions, as well as free tickets to many Washington DC area theatre productions.
  • Two complimentary tickets for guests to each Studio Theatre production.
  • Seminars with Studio Theatre artistic leadership, including Artistic Director David Muse. Through in-depth conversations with department heads, these seminars familiarize Apprentices with the art and operations of a professional regional theatre, the ecology of the Washington DC theatre scene, and issues relevant to the larger field.
  • Post-apprenticeship career planning.
  • Tours of other theatres and cultural institutions in the DC area. Recent tours have included The White House, the newly expanded Arena Stage complex, the Washington Post offices, and the studios of National Public Radio.
  • Opportunities to network with apprentices and interns at peer theatres in DC.
  • Lifelong connections to peers, mentors, and artists.
